What most hospital programs have in common

0.00% APR

Not introductory; it lasts for the life of the initial charges.

No application

Identity verification only, with no credit score impact.

Low minimums

Several programs advertise payments as low as $25 a month.

One statement

Future approved charges can be added to the same account.

Where programs differ: which services qualify (Bassett excludes cosmetic care), when they enroll you (before care or after billing), and whether short plans stay with the provider (MultiCare).

How to check whether your provider offers it

  1. Look on your hospital's "Pay my bill" or "Financial assistance" page for the CarePayment name.
  2. Check your statement for a CarePayment offer or Welcome Kit.
  3. Call the billing office and ask, "Do you offer CarePayment or another 0% plan?"
  4. Use CarePayment's official Find a Provider form to ask CarePayment to contact a provider you'd like to use it with.

What to say to your billing office

"Hi, I have a balance of $____ from my visit on ____. Do you offer CarePayment or another 0% payment plan? If not, do you have a financial assistance program, and can I get an itemized bill?"

If they don't offer CarePayment, you can also submit their name through CarePayment's Find a Provider form so CarePayment can reach out.

Types of providers that use it

CarePayment works with hospitals and health systems, physician practices, oncology networks and ancillary service providers. Each provider decides which services qualify and what term lengths apply, so the details on one hospital's page may not match another's.

If your provider doesn't offer CarePayment

You still have options: an in-house payment plan, the hospital's financial assistance program, a medical credit card or a personal loan. We compare them on our alternatives page.

If your hospital is a nonprofit

Nonprofit hospitals must publish a financial assistance policy explaining eligibility and how to apply (IRS). It's worth applying before you set up any payment plan, because assistance can reduce or erase the balance itself.
