Who we are

We're a small editorial team that writes about patient financing in plain English. People who get a CarePayment Welcome Kit often have the same questions: is it real, will it hurt my credit, how do I pay? We answer those questions with links to the original sources.

We are not CarePayment. This site is not owned by, endorsed by or affiliated with CarePayment Technologies, Inc. or Republic Bank & Trust Company. For account help, contact CarePayment at 866-625-8532.

What we cover

  • CarePayment basics: how the 0.00% APR line of credit works, the Welcome Kit, activation, payments and cancelling.
  • Your credit: what CarePayment does and doesn't report, and how medical debt is handled by the credit bureaus.
  • Where it's offered: hospitals and health systems that publish details of their CarePayment programs.
  • Other options: provider plans, financial assistance, medical credit cards and personal loans.

How we research

Every page starts from primary sources: CarePayment's patient and provider FAQs, hospitals' own CarePayment pages, lenders' published disclosures and regulators such as the CFPB and IRS. Each page lists its sources at the bottom so you can check them. Where sources disagree, we say so or leave the claim out. When a hospital changes its program or CarePayment updates its FAQs, we update the affected pages.

What we never do

  • Ask for your CarePayment login, card or bank details
  • Claim to be CarePayment or your provider
  • Publish invented patient quotes or ratings
  • Let lender compensation change our CarePayment content

How we make money

Some visitors use our request form to see personal loan options from third-party lenders, and we may be compensated when they do. Compensation never changes the facts we publish about CarePayment.
